Dallas Adult Entertainment: Letters From Readers: Oct. 14
Obama has rightfully continued the war on terror on multiple fronts. Since when has war been considered peaceful? He has done nothing of note to deserve the prize. Have I been asleep and missed something great he has done to bring peace to the world?
Kofi Annan and the jokers at the United Nations split the award in 2001. As head of United Nations peacekeeping operations in the mid-1990s before he rose to Secretary General, Annan never apologized to the victims of the Rwanda genocide, whose slaughter was the consequence of the U.N.’s failure to intervene, or to the families of Muslims massacred at Srebrenica while under the protection of U.N. soldiers. Then there was the food for oil scandal and the rampant human rights violations, including rape and forced prostitution, committed by U.N. peacekeepers. These events both occurred after the Peace Prize was given, but they should be noted because they show the U.N.’s true colors.
