Having lost friends over the fact that some, even women have defended a man who admitted to raping a 13-year-old child has been very eye-opening to me. Lis and I discussed how people blame the girl. They make statements that she was wild, she was reckless, they blame her mother, never fully blaming the perpetrator of the crime or even taking serious the most recent accusations by actress Charlotte Lewis. Americans like to belittle the way Muslims often treat young girls and women of violent crimes, yet we do so just as easily. We may not commit mercy killings in the name of family honor, but we have no little empathy as a whole for young girls or women who cry rape. Once the public hears that statement, they go into an attack mode to find out the background of the alleged victim. Pointedly, Lis and I agree, that even a prostitute can be raped. The safety of young women and children should mean a lot more to us than it currently does in a civilized society.

Can I just put in my two cents and say that this is possibly the greatest idea since someone figured out that wrapping people in togas meant we didn’t have to look at ugly fat people anymore? I think that what American Idol’s been lacking for the past few seasons is a sense of class and dignity, and Bret Michaels is practically synonymous with sophistication. This is a guy who dates multiple women at a time, including some who are strippers/like to offer shots of tequila out of their hoo-has. He clearly doesn’t settle for second-best, and that’s really what America (f*ck yeah!) needs right now. So cheers to you, Bret Michaels, the greatest judge since Paula Abdul; I can only assume that even with your various hemorrhages and strokes, you are still less brain-damaged than she is.

For a rookie who has yet to play a game, Dez Bryant sure does stir things up.
First it was the story about how Miami management, in their pre-draft interview with Bryant, asked him point-blank if his mother were a prostitute.
Now Bryant’s play in Dallas has Patrick Crayton demanding a trade so he can catch on with a team that actually wants him.
Crayton is convinced, perhaps not erroneously, that the only reason the Dallas Cowboys are keeping him around, is for insurance should one of Miles Austin, Roy Williams, or Bryant either fail to meet expectations, come up lame, or fail to continue to produce.
Crayton’s plea, and it’s a legitimate one, is if he’s only being kept around as Plan D, give him his release so he can catch on with someone else before all the teams have their rosters pretty much set.
