SI.com, citing unnamed sources, reported Friday that Miami general manager Jeff Ireland asked Dez Bryant if his mother was a prostitute as a follow-up to other answers provided by the former Oklahoma State star during a predraft interview.
The SI.com report cited an alleged exchange in which Bryant was asked what his father did for a living when the wide receiver was growing up, and he responded his father was a pimp.
When Bryant was then asked what his mother did and answered she worked for his father, Ireland asked if she was a prostitute.
Asked about that report at Dallas minicamp, Bryant responded, “That was a lie. … I really don’t want to speak on that. I just want to talk about the Cowboys and what I’m doing. I put that in the past.”

Dallas Adult Entertainment: NFL has no business punishing Miami Dolphins over Jeff Ireland

Although the newly revealed “my dad was a pimp” context in which the question apparently turns out to have been asked in makes it a lot less inappropriate than if it had come out of the blue, there’s still no defending an employer asking a potential hire whether his mother was a prostitute, no matter the context – which is why there’s no way to go about defending the fact that Miami Dolphins General Manager Jeff Ireland asked that question of wide receiver Dez Bryant earlier this year. And it’s good that the issue has surfaced, because it’s about time the NFL got around to dealing with this kind of thing. It’s not that the intentions of GMs aren’t logical when these questions are asked, of course. Once a player gets on the field, players from the opposing team are going to say every insulting and offensive thing that they can, as soon as the ref is out of earshot. That will incl …

Dallas Adult Entertainment: Dez Bryant’s Slippery Slope

The media blitz started when Dez Bryant was suspended for having an improper relationship with Deion Sanders.  Then during the draft process it was revealed that Bryant was late for practices and several games.  It didn’t end there as teams reported that he forgot his cleats for team workouts.  Then news started to spread that Bryant was being removed from team’s draft boards because of several character concerns.
Now the latest story where Dolphins General Managers Jeff Ireland asked Bryant if his mother was a prostitute.  And the newest development that Bryant in fact stated that his father was a pimp and his mother worked for him.  Bryant has denied that he made that statement but at this point the story has made its impact.  Dez Bryant needs to be careful because while media attention can be good, it also could be the downfall of a career.

Dallas Escorts: First Day of Camp All Eyes on Dez

Some players, like Sam Young, are just happy to be a Cowboy and know how special it is. “The first thing you see when you come in is all those Super Bowls, and different things that make the Cowboys a special organization.“
The Cowboys first day of mini camp is over and the rookies are looking to improve for tomorrows practice.
The only negative around Cowboys camp right now is the Dez Bryant/Jeff Ireland questioning. After the first practice reporters were asking Bryant if his dad was a “pimp” and tried to get a reaction out of him. Bryant just wanted to talk about football and wanted to leave that problem in the past. Let’s hope the media stops talking about Dez Bryant’s mother too so he can focus on the playbook and getting in shape.

Dallas Adult Entertainment: Favre: ankle surgery a must before returning to Vikings

… I don’t want to talk about it. I just want to talk about the Cowboys and what I’m doing. I put that in the past,” Bryant said. “I’m just going to move on.”
Meanwhile, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross gave Ireland a vote of confidence and said he considers “the matter closed.”
“Jeff Ireland is a man of great capability and integrity and he is well deserving of my continued confidence,” Ross said.
Another twist came when SI.com, citing unnamed sources, reported Ireland asked Bryant if his mother was a prostitute as a follow-up to other answers provided by the receiver from Oklahoma State.
The SI.com report cited an alleged exchange in which Bryant was asked what his father did for a living when the receiver was growing up, and he responded his dad was a pimp. When Bryant was then asked what his mother did and answered that she worked for his dad, Ireland asked if she was a prostitute.

Stephen Ross: ‘We are going to take a hard look at our interview practices’
Dolphins owner said he considers matter closed Aaron Wilson
In the wake of the controversy that still swirls around general manager Jeff Ireland for asking Dez Bryant if his mother was a prostitute during a predraft official visit, Miami Dolphins team owner Stephen Ross said he considers the matter a closed issue.
The Dolphins, who have released a statement from Ireland apologizing to Bryant and a previous statement from Ross, have released what they’ve said is their final word on the situation.
Bryant has said that the Dolphins’ version of events claiming that he said his father was a pimp is a lie.
Here’s the entire statement from Ross:
“I have looked into the matter of Jeff Ireland and the questions asked of former Oklahoma State receiver Dez Bryant and I have spoken to many people in and outside our organization who were directly and indirectly involved. Jeff Ireland has apologized personally and publicly to Dez Bryant.
