Notes From the 2010 Campaign Trail
Tuesday on the trail:
— In Texas, Gov. Rick Perry, who is running for re-election, said he would sponsor a car in the April 18 Nascar Sprint Cup race that would display his name and his campaign’s web address.
— Newt Gingrich, appearing on the Today program on NBC, defended Michael Steele, the embattled chairman of the Republican National Committee, whose chief of staff resigned Monday over questions about expenditures at a West Hollywood bondage and strip club.
— The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is using images of a winking Sarah Palin and her hand-scribbling habits to raise campaign funds for selected Democratic candidates.
Governor Perry appeared at a suburban car dealership on Tuesday with the race car driver Bobby Labonte to announce that his campaign would sponsor Mr. Labonte’s car in the Texas Motor Speedway race, The Associated Press reported.
