But Robinson, the quarterback chosen in the seventh round by the New England Patriots, was less forthcoming about Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland asking Bryant during a pre-draft interview if his mother ever was a prostitute.
Robinson wouldn’t reveal his opinion of the question after his workout Friday on the first day at the Patriots three-day rookie mini-camp. But he did say he wasn’t asked any unusual questions by pro personnel.

After his first workout with the Cowboys during a rookie minicamp Friday, Bryant repeatedly said he didn’t want to talk about his interview with Ireland. Bryant says he wants to “put that in the past” and is “just looking ahead now.”
Bryant’s on-field debut with the Cowboys came days after Ireland apologized publicly, the NFL players union raised concerns about discrimination and degradation, and Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said he would look into the matter personally.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Ross “is taking the appropriate steps to address the matter and we look forward to hearing what Mr. Ross decides to do to improve the club’s interviewing practices.”
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he respected how the Dolphins were handling the situation and had communicated this week with Ireland and Ross “on a personal basis.” Jones didn’t elaborate.
Another twist came Friday when SI.com, citing unnamed sources, reported that Ireland asked Bryant if his mother was a prostitute as a follow-up to other answers provided by the 21-year-old receiver.
The SI.com report cited an alleged exchange in which Bryant was asked what his father did for a living when the receiver was growing up, and he responded that his dad was a pimp. When Bryant was then asked what his mother did and answered that she worked for his dad, Ireland asked if she was a prostitute.

Miami Dolphins’ owner Stephen Ross has said he will not punish Ireland for asking new Dallas Cowboy receiver Dez Bryant if his mother was a prostitute during a pre-NFL Draft interview.

Ross doesn’t seem to buy into rumors that Ireland’s line of questioning was logical after Bryant made a reference to his father being a pimp. A Sports Illustrated article claims Bryant’s pimp daddy remark is what sparked Ireland’s interest in the oldest profession in the world.

On the same day that Jim Trotter of SI.com reported — and a large chunk of the football-following world accepted without scrutiny — that Dolphins G.M. Jeff Ireland asked receiver Dez Bryant if his mother was a prostitute after he volunteered that his father is a pimp and that his mother works for him, Bryant called the “context” information provided on an off-the-record basis by the Dolphins “a lie.”
Ed Werder of ESPN reports that Bryant was resolute in two separate discussions regarding the story that the Dolphins have been pushing privately and without anyone from the organization going on the record.  The franchise’s official position, as we pointed out earlier today, is that it doesn’t know where the leaked report came from.  (We’ve got a feeling no one on the business side of the operation has the nerve to ask V.P. of football operations Bill Parcells whether he knows anything about the situation.)
Meanwhile, Bryant separately told Mike Silver of Yahoo! Sports that the unnamed Dolphins sources are “lying,” and that Bryant did not say his father is a pimp.

ESPN – Dez Bryant has denied that a question from Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland in a predraft interview asking if his mother was a prostitute was prompted by something Bryant said.
“No, I didn’t tell him my dad was a pimp,” Bryant said in a text message to ESPN’s Ed Werder on Thursday.
A league source told ESPN.com’s Matt Mosley details of the conversation first reported by SI.com earlier Friday were accurate. During the meeting, the source said, Ireland asked Bryant — during a talk about Bryant’s upbringing and relationship with family members — what his father did for a living when Bryant was growing up, which apparently prompted this exchange:
Bryant: “My dad was a pimp.”
Ireland: “What did your mom do [for a living]?”

asked him a question that could only come across as a completely uncouth thing to do. Jeff Ireland who is the General Manager for the Dolphin’s was interviewing Dez Bryant to decide whether to draft him or not and in the middle of it he asked whether Dez Bryant’s mother was in the line of prostitution – to use his words he said: “was your mother a prostitute?”
Now I don’t know if he meant it in a joking way or not but it was something that went way below the belt and though he was slow in realizing it, Jeff Ireland did eventually apologize to Dez Bryant.
Now a lot of people are asking questions about Dez Bryant’s mother and I think it would be best if we left the matter alone as it is none of our business to pry into the personal life of Dez.
