Dallas Adult Entertainment: Government is going in two directions on drugs

Victoria Coun. Philippe Lucas is quoted as saying, “There’s absolutely no reason and no excuse for us to wait for an Island-wide model to be put in place before this municipality takes action in trying to reduce the spread of disease and improve the public health of our region.”
I’ll give him a reason: Non-prescription drug use is illegal.
To restate his position, “Drug use is illegal, but we can’t stop it, so we’ll make it as safe as possible.”
Prohibition didn’t work, and laws against prostitution don’t work, for the same reason laws against drug use don’t work: There is not enough public support.
The solution is to make drug use legal, and put it on the same footing as the sale of the most commonly used mind-altering substances, alcohol and tobacco: Make it a government monopoly.

Atlanta Braves minor league pitcher suspended after arrest on prostitution-related charges
By Associated Press 12:39 PM CDT, March 26, 2010
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) — The Atlanta Braves have suspended a minor league pitcher who was charged with two prostitution-related misdemeanors after a sting conducted not far from the team’s spring training facility.
Right-hander Deunte Heath bonded out of jail Friday. Kissimmee police spokeswoman Stacie Miller says the 24-year-old ballplayer was arrested Thursday night when he allegedly responded to Internet prostitution ads and agreed to pay $75 for a sex act.
The Braves say Heath has been suspended indefinitely and sent home to Decatur, Ga., while the club gathers details of his arrest. The team says it will have no further comment.
Heath, 24, pitched in 32 games last season with Triple-A Gwinnett and Double-A Mississippi. He went 2-6 with a 5.20 ERA.

Dallas Adult Entertainment: IN FOCUS: Time to celebrate Resurrection Sunday

Several years ago, Sheila and I had the opportunity to spend some time with Brooklyn Tabernacle in New York. We first visited with Jim and Carol Cymbala and then had dinner with several from their staff. It was Tuesday, and they said they would save a place for us that night for prayer meeting.
If they had not saved us a place, we could not have found a seat in the 1,500-seat auditorium. Fifteen minutes before the service, about 200 men already were standing at the altar praying out loud simultaneously. The service lasted for two hours with very little preaching and a whole lot of praying. We learned many of the folks present had been addicts, prostitutes, drunks and convicts. They didn’t come to the service to be affirmed. They came to be delivered.
