DALLAS — New questions are surfacing regarding the Dallas County deputy constable who was charged in a bribery-for-sex scheme.
Lt. Howard Watson faces sexual assault and bribery counts as part of an ongoing corruption investigation by the Dallas County grand jury.
But should his boss — Dallas County Precinct 5 Constable Jaime Cortes — have known something was wrong? While Cortes is not accused of committing a crime, a criminal investigation leads to his office.
Howard Watson, one of Cortes’ top lieutenants, is charged with allegedly soliciting sex from women whose criminal warrants he offered to destroy.
During a recent News 8 Investigation into Watson’s on-duty activities, we observed him make a traffic stop on a female driver using his personal vehicle, which is equipped with flashing emergency police lights.

Physically, the iPad resembles a large iPod touch, with a 9.7-inch multi-touch screen that, curiously, offers a 4:3 standard aspect ratio rather than the expected widescreen display. (It runs at 1024 x 768 resolution.) The device is also oddly ugly, for an Apple product, with a very wide bezel around all four sides of the display.
Apple is offering a whopping six different versions of the device, at prices that range from $499 for a stripper model with a lowly 16 GB of storage and no 3G wireless connection (all iPads do offer 802.11n connectivity however) to a more Apple-esque $829 model with 64 GB of storage and 3G. Of course, 3G connectivity is not included in the price (as is the case with Amazon’s Kindle eBook reader), though Apple is offering some affordable pay-as-you-go plans, including 250 MB of data for $15 per month and unlimited data for $30 per month. These plans can be started up and stopped at any time, and do not require a contract. Sadly, they are available through AT&T only.

I’ve been madly busy in 2009. I just recorded a bluegrass record with Larry and Jenny Keel. It is called Thief and will hopefully be out in early fall 2010.
What album or albums appeared most often in your iTunes?
I listen to a lot of CDs when I drive. The one that kept me going the most this year is Funk Fixes and Remixes from the Pimps of Joytime. As far as my iPod is concerned, it lives in my iPod DJ Mixer. Lately, I’ve been mixing everything with trouble funk drum beats. I think my son hung off of my ipod as it was docked in the mixer and now……she is broke.
