Dallas Strip Clubs: Naked ambition

There are only estimates on the overall revenue of the sex industry. But according to Adult Video News, an industry trade magazine, US customers spent $12.6bn on DVD rentals, pornography websites and strip club visits in 2005. How those figures have changed since then is less clear. While porn production companies have suffered because of the abundance of free content online, strip clubs still tend to be profitable businesses. “Our clubs provide a steady cash flow,” says Langan.

Nevertheless, the arrests taught Langan a lesson: never get in trouble with the law, especially if you own a strip club. He says he always plays by the rules. People may associate strip clubs with prostitution, money laundering and gangsters, but Langan says he has never, for example, had to deal with mobsters. “Our business is so regulated [and] there are so many background checks that it is not functional for them,” he says. “These guys prefer garbage and other businesses nobody cares about.”

Dallas Strip Clubs: Rick’s Cabaret International, Inc. to Build New Gentlemen’s Club near Dallas …

Ricks Cabaret International, Inc. to Build New Gentlemens Club near Dallas-Ft. Worth Airport
Ricks Cabaret International, Inc. (NASDAQ: RICK), the nations premier chain of upscale gentlemens clubs, said today it will build a new gentlemens club just off the freeway near the busy Dallas-Ft. Worth International Airport.
“We have taken advantage of a rare opportunity to build a first class gentlemens club near the worlds seventh busiest airport, said Eric Langan, President and CEO of Ricks Cabaret. “Because of strict zoning regulations, it is difficult to find a licensed venue for a new adult club in or near most major cities in the U.S. and we feel very fortunate to have secured this site.
Mr. Langan said the company will pay $2.4 million for the land on the Airport Freeway (Highway 183) and $2.1 million in a turnkey agreement to have a 10,000-square foot building erected and furnished to Ricks Cabaret specifications. The acquisition of the land will take place after a certificate of occupancy has been received for the building. The property has already been zoned by the city of Ft. Worth for use by a sexually oriented business.

Dallas Adult Entertainment: Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo Gets Flack For Vegas Trip

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo is back in the press after he apparently took a trip with wide receiver Miles Austin to Las Vegas, the city of SIN.
Of course, the press is tying this trip to one two years in which Romo left the week before a playoff game against the rival New York Giants to head to Mexico with a blond bimbo named Jessica Simpson and his best buddy Jason Witten.
I guess Vegas has a certain level of dirtiness to it, right? I mean, legal gambling and legal prostitution, free food and money everywhere.
But this trip happens when the Cowboys are 8-3, in first place, and controlling their own destiny for the playoffs and a divisional championship.
So, is Tony Romo under house arrest? Should he not be taking these trips? If not, why?

Dallas Adult Entertainment: My Denton Music interview: Singer Matthew Gray

Gray: My whole goal in opening that was to inspire people. You know, it takes one person to start a fire. But, if you get other people encouraged, that’s when you can really do something. We were able to rally people in Dallas, and Fort Worth, and especially in [Denton] to really look for something different; to do something different. The goal is to open a performance arts space in Denton. That’s something that’s happening, but we’ve run into some problems finding some grants since we are a non-profit organization.
My Denton Music: Have you been working with the city?
Gray: No, we haven’t been working with the city yet. That’s something I’ve put a lot of thought into. We’ve been looking into [federal] funding, because there’s a lot of money that goes into the arts every year. And corporate funding. That worked for Art Prostitute. And my goal is to find a building that will last.
