Dallas Strip Clubs: Rejected Gingrich gift goes to pit bulls

DALLAS, Nov. 26 (UPI) — The owner of a Dallas strip club whose $5,000 contribution to former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was rejected is giving the money to a shelter for pit bulls.
The shelter, at Animal Gardens 40 miles outside Dallas, is to be named Newt’s Nook, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Thursday. Annett Lambert, who runs the animal sanctuary, said she was happy to get the donation from strip club owner Dawn Rizos.
“I can’t tell you how much this new building means to us,” Lambert said. “Dawn didn’t deserve to be treated like that, but this will do so much for these loving dogs until we find them good homes.”
American Solutions, Gingrich’s think tank, selected Rizos’ company, DCG, for an entrepreneurship award but the award was withdrawn when American Solutions learned DCG’s main business is running The Lodge, a strip club.

Dallas Strip Clubs: Topless bar money Gingrich spurned goes to dogs

Topless bar money Gingrich spurned goes to dogs

Dawn Rizos could have been bitter when former U.S. Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich returned her $5,000 donation and rescinded an entrepreneurship award offered to her Dallas strip club.
But Rizos found a new way to honor her favorite conservative statesman.
She used the donation returned from Gingrich’s political think tank, American Solutions, to build a recovery shelter for injured pit bulls at an animal shelter outside Dallas.
“Newt’s Nook,” a climate-controlled facility at Dallas’ Animal Guardians sanctuary, was opened in Gingrich’s name to provide a safe, healthy place where the injured rescue can recuperate until they’re adopted.
“We’re thrilled to help such a worthy project,” said Rizos, who owns The Lodge gentlemen’s club. “I wish Newt were here to see these wonderful dogs and know that we’re giving them a chance for happier lives.”

Dallas Strip Clubs: Strip club owner’s dog pound in Newt’s name opens

Strip club owner’s dog pound in Newt’s name opens

Associated Press
A North Texas shelter for pit bulls has opened this week, thanks to a Dallas topless club owner’s contribution after Newt Gingrich’s conservative group snubbed her donation.
The former U.S. House speaker’s political organization was set to give Dawn Rizos an “Entrepreneur of the Year” award last month. But the group reneged, saying it had mistaken her business for another. Rizos, who owns the Dallas topless club The Lodge, was refunded the $5,000 fee required to receive the award.
Disappointed, Rizos says she decided to “make something positive out of his bad manners.”
She redirected the money to Animal Guardians of America’s sanctuary for rescued dogs in Celina, about 35 miles north of Dallas.
Gingrich didn’t attend the opening of “Newt’s Nook — A Home for Pit Bulls.”

Dallas Strip Clubs: Reporter’s Notebook: From Dallas to the Rock

One of the first thing new arrivals to Kansas City do is find a “house church,” which is the Rock’s unit of worship. Rather than attend weekly ceremonies in traditional churches, Rock families coalesce into intimate groups and share their problems and triumphs.
But how to pick the right church?
When he first got here, Patrick started sampling the field. He found a pretty wide array of different dynamics. There was the more established church where the older members seemed to fit into certain roles. There was a more leader-driven one, where a man guided the discussion and worship.
Patrick says he’s confident he’ll know it when he steps into the right church for him.
Meanwhile, house rehab continues.
Have settled in one of Kansas City’s rougher neighborhoods, and having previously ministered to strippers and meth-mouth mothers in Dallas, Patrick, like most Rock members, is no stranger to do-it-yourself projects.

Dallas Strip Clubs: Holiday could bring in more flu

The woman later told police she saw four foreigners shortly before the incident, according to the reports citing unnamed sources. A surveillance camera recorded images of three boys and one girl in the area at the time, and the four allegedly acted ’suspiciously’ when later questioned by police. The police have obtained arrest warrants and planned to take the four teenagers, reportedly aged between 15 and 18, into custody as early as this week, the reports said.

Dallas Adult Entertainment: HIV-positive prostitute indicted in Toledo

Elizabeth Curtis, of 1222 Baker, was charged with engaging in solicitation after a positive HIV test. She faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
According to a police report, she tested positive for HIV in March, 2008.
Ms. Curtis was arrested Nov. 17 on Lagrange Street after she approached the parked car of undercover officers and offered sex acts in exchange for money. She told the officers that condoms were not needed because she was “clean,” according to police.
During a subsequent records check and interview, it was discovered that Ms. Curtis learned she was HIV positive last year when she was tested at a local women’s shelter. She told the detective that she works as a prostitute “almost everyday” and that she “often” has sexual intercourse without condoms.

Dallas Escorts: Denton sorority gives African-American boys key to success, leadership

He told them they must always have their short term and their long term goals in mind.
Curtis Cornelious is the first African-American to serve on the Little Elm town council. He said he was teased for being a nerd when he was younger, but that really didn’t matter.
It’s better to be prepared and not have the opportunity than to have the opportunity and not be prepared, he said. Pay attention to your dream.
Jake Reed spoke on MEN, Manners, Etiquette, and Nobility. The former Minnesota Viking and New Orleans Saint said, When you see girls don’t throw paper at them. Treat girls like you would treat your mom.
Don’t let rap music you listen to be the way you call girls. If you see another kid that doesn’t dress the way you do, don’t disrespect them, Reed said. Show manners.

Dallas Escorts: City Says It’s Serious About Cleaning Up One Beleaguered NW Dallas Intersection

Last week, council member Ann Margolin told a room full of Northwest Dallas residents that the city was going to start cracking down on crime at and around the intersection of Royal Lane and Dennis Road, where day-laborers while away the daylight hours in front of a convenience store. Matter of fact, she said, on November 19 she was meeting with First Assistant City Manager Ryan Evans and Dallas police officials to discuss the matter. Which she did: After the jump, you’ll find a letter Deputy Chief Malik Aziz of the Northwest Division’s Patrol Bureau sent to Evans in advance of their confab detailing the myriad issues with the intersection, which has become a hot spot for drug dealing, prostitution, gambling and, till recently, a homeless camp.

Mr. Evans: 10-19-09 – I held a meeting with all of the area store owners and managers. 90 percent of the meeting attendees signed the Criminal Trespass Affidavits Forms and expressed and interest to …

Dallas Strip Clubs: Time asks the Hasan faith question (kind of)

I was having a private conversation the other day, soon after the Fort Hood massacre, with a specialist in issues of religious freedom and, in particular, Jihadist persecution of moderate Muslims and various religious minorities in predominately Muslim lands.
The details were filtering out about the many clues that U.S. Army officials had missed linked to the evolving, increasingly radical beliefs of Major Nidal Malik Hasan in the weeks, months or even years before he opened fire on his colleagues in the U.S. Army. “We’re probably going to find out,” said the expert, “that Hasan was even visiting strip clubs and nobody (at Fort Hood) understood what that meant.”
Sure enough, the public soon learned that Hasan had, in fact, been frequenting strip clubs. In some previous terrorism cases, including 9/11, this had been a sign that devout Muslim males were freely committing sins that they believed would soon be washed away in the ultimate act of self sacrifice — martyrdom in defense of the faith.
