A North Texas shelter for pit bulls has opened this week, thanks to a Dallas topless club owner’s contribution after Newt Gingrich’s conservative group snubbed her donation.
The former U.S. House speaker’s political organization was set to give Dawn Rizos an “Entrepreneur of the Year” award last month. But the group reneged, saying it had mistaken her business for another. Rizos, who owns the Dallas topless club The Lodge, was refunded the $5,000 fee required to receive the award.
Disappointed, Rizos says she decided to “make something positive out of his bad manners.”
She redirected the money to Animal Guardians of America’s sanctuary for rescued dogs in Celina, about 35 miles north of Dallas.
Gingrich didn’t attend the opening of “Newt’s Nook — A Home for Pit Bulls.”

Dallas Strip Clubs: Reporter’s Notebook: From Dallas to the Rock

One of the first thing new arrivals to Kansas City do is find a “house church,” which is the Rock’s unit of worship. Rather than attend weekly ceremonies in traditional churches, Rock families coalesce into intimate groups and share their problems and triumphs.
But how to pick the right church?
When he first got here, Patrick started sampling the field. He found a pretty wide array of different dynamics. There was the more established church where the older members seemed to fit into certain roles. There was a more leader-driven one, where a man guided the discussion and worship.
Patrick says he’s confident he’ll know it when he steps into the right church for him.
Meanwhile, house rehab continues.
Have settled in one of Kansas City’s rougher neighborhoods, and having previously ministered to strippers and meth-mouth mothers in Dallas, Patrick, like most Rock members, is no stranger to do-it-yourself projects.

Dallas Strip Clubs: Holiday could bring in more flu

The woman later told police she saw four foreigners shortly before the incident, according to the reports citing unnamed sources. A surveillance camera recorded images of three boys and one girl in the area at the time, and the four allegedly acted ’suspiciously’ when later questioned by police. The police have obtained arrest warrants and planned to take the four teenagers, reportedly aged between 15 and 18, into custody as early as this week, the reports said.

Dallas Adult Entertainment: HIV-positive prostitute indicted in Toledo

Elizabeth Curtis, of 1222 Baker, was charged with engaging in solicitation after a positive HIV test. She faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
According to a police report, she tested positive for HIV in March, 2008.
Ms. Curtis was arrested Nov. 17 on Lagrange Street after she approached the parked car of undercover officers and offered sex acts in exchange for money. She told the officers that condoms were not needed because she was “clean,” according to police.
During a subsequent records check and interview, it was discovered that Ms. Curtis learned she was HIV positive last year when she was tested at a local women’s shelter. She told the detective that she works as a prostitute “almost everyday” and that she “often” has sexual intercourse without condoms.
