El Paso, Texas — Holloman Air Force Base officials said very little about the slaying of 26-year-old Staff Sgt. David Booher at the Amadeus Strip Club in Juarez early Wednesday morning, El Paso station KFOX reported.
“The incident is under investigation by the Mexican State Police, and more information will be released as it becomes available,” said Arlan Ponder, spokesman for the 49th Fighter Wing stationed at Holloman Air Force Base.
Ponder said military police have played a backup role in the investigation.

Sources in Juarez said an armed man entered the strip club firing more than 30 shots, hitting Booher several times. In the end, six people were killed.

Dallas Strip Clubs: Airman killed in Juarez

A medic from Holloman Air Force Base may have been attempting to treat wounded victims in a shooting when he was targeted and killed by gunmen inside a Juárez strip club, a friend of the airman said.
Staff Sgt. David Booher, 26, was among six men killed just after midnight Wednesday in the Amadeus strip club, Chihuahua state police and Holloman Air Force Base officials said. Booher was with the 49th Fighter Wing.
The strip club shooting was part of another violent day in Juárez in which at least six other killings took place including four young men who were lined against a wall and executed outside an elementary school.

Estrada, 28, said his friends told him what happened when gunmen burst into the Amadeus, a neon-lit strip club billed as “El Imperio del Placer” (the Empire of Pleasure) on Avenida Ejercito Nacional.

Dallas Adult Entertainment: Dallas Braces For Influx Of Prostitutes

I come across a lot of stories each day, and some just grab your attention more than others. Take for instance, this gem from The Dallas Morning News: “Dallas police preparing for influx of prostitutes during NBA All-Star game, Super Bowl XLV.” With the ASG coming in February, Dallas police are bracing for an influx of prostitutes.
Not something your city probably put in the budget when they decided to host the games. Interestingly enough, the issue came up at the National Prostitute Diversion Conference in Dallas yesterday, where Sgt. Louis Felini said between 50,000 and 100,000 prostitutes could be in the metroplex for the festivities.
100,000 hookers?! That’s crazy! That’s enough for almost every man, woman and child that decides to actually see the games at the new Cowboys Stadium. While Felini noted that there is no way to truly predict the number of pros who will come to the area to become ladies of the night, there definitely will be some fresh blood.

Dallas Adult Entertainment: Influx of prostitutes for the Super Bowl at Cowboys Stadium

Dallas police are bracing for an influx of prostitutes during the 2010 NBA All-Star game and 2011 Super Bowl, both held at Cowboys Stadium.
DMN reporter and blogmaster Scott Goldstein had a post about this last night (check it out for more details). This issue came up at the National Prostitute Diversion Conference in Dallas, and one police official mentioned a shocking number of 50,000 to 100,000 hookers traveling to the region for the Super Bowl. That official also said there’s no way to truly to know what the numbers would be.
At least one commenter on the Crime Blog was suspicious of those figures. I understand the skepticism. The host committee estimates that as many 200,000 people will be in North Texas for Super Bowl XLV weekend. If the assumption is that prostitutes come to town to profit from the large number tourists (presumably with deep pockets), the math seems shaky. But it’s also notoriously difficult to create statistics for criminal activity unless you’re talking about arrests or reported crimes.

Dallas Adult Entertainment: Local Program Helping Prostitues Turn Lives Around

According to police, arresting prostitutes is like walking them through a revolving door. One night they are wearing handcuffs and the next night they are back out on the streets. “You already know about the jail overcrowding situation, so within 48 hours she’s set free,” said Sgt. Louis Felini with the Dallas Police Department. “Well, she returns back to the only environment she knows how to survive in.”

Sgt. Dana Reynolds and Sgt. Jim Elves are police officers from Ottawa, Canada. They are in Dallas along with 200 other officers from across North America for the first Prostitute Diversion Initiative Conference. There, the officers will learn how Dallas police and sheriff’s deputies are fighting prostitution.

“This is a place where women can come and find hope,” said former prostitute Karen Green. She is one of the many women who have been helped by the Dallas program. “A lot of women, when they come off the streets, they’re so entangled in what they were a part of, and they’re so angry and so hurt.”

Dallas Strip Clubs: Grapevine: Jackson’s ‘This Is It’ tops Billboard chart; Jack White tells Slash no

Judging by his three bands, it’s evident Jack White is a hard worker, but he won’t work for just anybody. Ex-Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash tells Musicradar.com he wanted to get the White Stripe, Raconteur and Dead Weather-er on his new solo album, but White balked. “I wanted to get Jack White to sing on something, but he didn’t want to sing,” says the man born Saul Hudson. “He said I’ll play drums, I’ll play guitar, but I don’t wanna sing. He was one guy that I wanted to work with. Pretty much everyone else that I went after I managed to get.” Artists he did rope in for the album include Flea , Dave Grohl and Alice Cooper . The album is due out early next year.
