Dallas Strip Clubs: Gingrich nixes award for strip club

DALLAS, Oct. 2 (UPI) — A Dallas strip club owner said she was disappointed when Newt Gingrich canceled a business award weeks after it was offered.
Dawn Rizos, owner of The Lodge, said she received a letter last month from the former Georgia congressman and speaker of the house last month saying his think tank, American Solutions, had chosen her bar as one of its 2009 Entrepreneurs of the Year representing Texas, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Friday.
“This tremendous honor is a testament to your success in building your business and recognition of the risks you take to create jobs and stimulate the economy,” said the letter, which invited Rizos to attend an Oct. 7 banquet at the Capitol Hill Club in Washington, D.C.
Rizos, who made a $5,000 donation to join Gingrich’s Business Defense and Advisory Council after receiving the invitation, said she was disappointed when the invitation was taken back by a representative of the organization Tuesday.

Dallas Strip Clubs: Gingrich Strips Entrepreneur Award from Topless Club

Gingrich Strips Entrepreneur Award from Topless Club

American Solutions for Winning the Future, a conservative group chaired by former Senate Majority Leader Newt Gingrich, gave and then took away an entrepreneurial award it had offered to the Texas gentleman’s club, The Lodge. The Lodge features topless entertainment.
The award was scheduled to be presented at the October 7 awards dinner of Gingrich’s organization. Although American Solutions has declined comment, it has become apparent that notice of the pending award was mistakenly sent to club owner Dawn Rizos when they confused The Lodge’s parent company, DCG Inc with a company of the same name based in Virginia.
Ironically, in response to the announcement of the honor, Rizos had paid $5000 to join Gingrich’s Business Defense and Advisory Council. American Solutions says it will refund Rizos the $5000 plus the cost of an airline ticket she had already purchased to travel to Washington, D.C. for the banquet.

Dallas Strip Clubs: Gingrich rescinds award offered to topless bar

Newt Gingrich is no gentleman, said a Dallas topless club owner.
This came after the former Georgia Congressman took back an award he offered to a strip club last month.
“I thought it wasn’t completely ridiculous that he might recognize my business,” Dawn Rizos, owner of The Lodge, said Thursday night.
Rizos’ business dubs itself “the country’s premier gentlemen’s club,” and she was tapped by Gingrich’s think tank, American Solutions, as one of its 2009 Entrepreneurs of the Year representing Texas.

A Web search links DCG Inc., the registered name for Rizos’ business, to The Lodge. The home page of the company’s Web site calls itself “the #1 Gentlemen’s Club in America, featuring captivating entertainers, fine food and drink in an elegant, intimate setting you have to see to believe.”

Dallas Strip Clubs: Gingrich Group Rescinds Topless Club Owner’s Award

For a moment, Dawn Rizos was flattered. She runs a Dallas gentlemen’s club called The Lodge. The owner of the topless club was delighted to be named “Entrepreneur of the Year.” A conservative group associated with Newt Gingrich said she’d won a private dinner with the former House speaker. Apparently the Gingrich group confused Rizos’ business with one by the same name in Virginia.

Dallas Strip Clubs: Strip club owner: Gingrich group pulled award

Strip club owner: Gingrich group pulled award
Popular Texas topless club was promised ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ award
DALLAS – Newt Gingrich’s conservative group gave — and then rescinded — a business award to a popular topless club in Texas, the proprietor said Thursday.
Dawn Rizos said she was looking forward to receiving the promised “Entrepreneur of the Year” award at a Washington, D.C., banquet from American Solutions for Winning the Future, which the former U.S. House speaker chairs.
After all, Rizos is the owner of The Lodge, which was named the Best Overall Club in America last year by ED Publications, which sponsors the gentlemen’s club industry’s annual convention and trade show.
But before she had a chance to dine on lobster bisque with Gingrich at the Oct. 7 awards dinner with some 50 other business leaders, the honor was yanked away. The group apparently confused Rizos’ Dallas business, which is legally called DCG Inc., with one by the same name in Virginia.
