… The Jordanian teenager accused last week of planning to blow up a downtown Dallas skycraper was in the U.S. illegally because he had overstayed his visa. Records show that Hosam Smadi, 19, came to America in the spring of 2007 on a visitor visa, not a student visa as originally believed. Once a visa-holder arrives with a “B2″ visitor visa – which is what Smadi apparently received — he has six months to seek an extension or leave the United States. Meanwhile, Smadi’s estranged wife told WFAA-TV Channel 8, that she still loves him but was shocked by his actions and plans to divorce him. “I love him. I did. You know, still do,” said Rosalinda Duron, 20, of Waxahachie. “[But] what he has done is amazing. It’s crazy. I can’t believe it.”

Kinki Lounge on Greenville Avenue, between Penrose and Martel Aves., apparently opened up without getting a dance-hall license, which is naughty, but hardly kinky. Hence its appearance today at City Hall today before the Permit and License Appeal Board. Also making a case for keeping its doors open: The Dallas Eagle, which moved its leather from Inwood Road to Maple Avenue without getting a license. …
Chuck Norris knows what it takes to win the culture wars: the childrens. Because they are the future. And, they’re future customers of two new books he pimps in his latest column about “youthful courage and heroism.” Still, the soon-to-be-published The Official Chuck Norris Fact Book: 101 of Chuck’s Favorite Facts and Stories does sound both “kick” and “ass”: Writes Norris, “Each of the 101 stories centers on one of the five ‘Fs’ from ‘Chuck’s Code’: freedom, faith, family, fitness or fight.” …

Hutchison’s campaign compared Perry’s voter recruitment program to tactics used by ACORN, the embattled community organizing group that has long been a target of conservative critics.
“Typical Rick Perry arrogance, when his failed record can’t earn him support, he’ll just buy it,” Hutchison spokeswoman Jennifer Baker said in a statement Tuesday. Hutchison aides said her campaign does not pay volunteers.
Democratic consultant Jason Stanford, who managed former U.S. Rep. Chris Bell’s unsuccessful campaign against Perry in 2006, said the Perry program is ripe for abuse.
“It’s the Anglo ACORN. A dishonest Perry supporter could create a huge scam,” Stanford said.
ACORN recently came under fire when its employees were caught on videotape giving advice to a woman posing as a prostitute and to a man posing as her pimp about cheating on taxes and operating a brothel with underage female immigrants.

Bank of America Corp. is cutting off ties to ACORN amid allegations against the housing and community activist group related to taxes, use of federal money and giving advice to people posing as pimps and prostitutes.
Bank of America employs 8,000 people in Dallas-Fort Worth and is ranked as the 14th largest employer in the D-FW area, according to the Dallas Business Journal ’s 2009 Book of Lists.
“Bank of America takes recent allegations made against ACORN and ACORN Housing Corp. employees very seriously. We are conducting our own assessment of the operations of the organizations and will consider the findings of the independent auditor hired by ACORN,” said BofA spokesman Richard Simon in an e-mailed statement. “Until we are satisfied that all issues have been resolved, we are suspending current commitments to ACORN Housing and will not enter into any further agreements with ACORN or any of its affiliates.”

Owner of topless club says Newt Gingrich’s group gave, then took away, business award
DALLAS (AP) — A topless club owner in Texas says Newt Gingrich’s conservative group gave her a business award — and then rescinded it.
Club owner Dawn Rizos says she was set to receive an “Entrepreneur of the Year” award for her business acumen from American Solutions for Winning the Future, which the former U.S. House speaker chairs.
But the owner of The Lodge, a popular Dallas gentleman’s club, says the group later rescinded the award and the accompanying private Oct. 7 dinner with Gingrich in Washington.
Apparently the Gingrich group confused Rizos’ business with one by the same name in Virginia.
Rizos says she’s disappointed; she was looking forward to sharing her political views with Gingrich.

Newt’s adventures in porno-world are an old scam
Thu Oct 01, 2009 at 11:12:04 AM PDT
Former Speaker Newt Gingrich seems to have gotten into the habit of leading companies in the adult entertainment industry to believe they won awards, then telling them “no.”
One (in a long, interconnected chain) of Newt’s PACs, 527s and non-profit organizations, American Solutions for Winning the Future, has not once but twice “accidentally” invited sex industry mavens to receive his oh-so-selective “Entrepreneur of the Year” awards.
The two selections were indeed “accidents” in the sense that Gingrich likely had no idea the two businesses, “Pink Visual” and “The Lodge” were a porn film production company and a strip club. In hindsight it seems kind of obvious, but the thing is, there was no kind of “sight” at all, fore or hind.

Newt Gingrich’s political group has just withdrawn an invitation to a strip club owner for a private dinner with the former House speaker, saying the invite was a mistake, that the organizers had confused the Texas business’ name with a small business in Virginia.
That’s the second time this month that the group, American Solutions, has withdrawn a dinner invitation to an executive in the “adult entertainment industry.” A couple weeks ago it awarded “Entrepreneur of the Year” to the president of a porn studio. The president said in a statement she was “honored and more than a little surprised.”
As for the Texas strip club owner, she said she still wants to meet Gingrich:
“We admire Newt Gingrich’s positions on personal responsibility, self-reliance, and, especially, the need to keep the government out of our private lives,” she said. “We have a lot to talk about.”

… Well,” says Ray Lewis, “I’m sure after ducking gunfire from Tom Brady’s entourage, Revere would have relayed the message that ‘The brutish are coming! The brutish are coming! Then Paul would probably hand-deliver some bootleg daguerreotypes of a Ravens practice.”
“Now, I relish the chance to stare across the line at Brady, gaze into his eyes, and try to enter the mind of a quarterback and see what he sees, particularly in his bedroom.”
“Actually, I’d much rather enter the mind of a cornerback, like the Pats Jonathan Wilhite. This guy said two suspicious people were outside his home. One yelled at him, and Wilhite ran! Has he not read the NFL cornerback handbook? In that situation, you should wave your weapon in the air. Firing it is optional, but recommended. Then you should go to a strip club to calm your nerves. On top of all this, he injured his groin running from the suspicious people. So, instead of pulling a ‘jammy,’ he pulled a ‘hammy.’”
