Dallas Strip Clubs: Concert preview: Cruefest at Superpages.com Center (August 8)

Dallas’ own Drowning Pool seemed to have been re-born as of late with their latest track, “37 Stitches,” from 2008’s Full Circle garnering modern rock play and their triumphant “Soldiers” remaining an anthem on foreign soil. Through the thick and thin of their twisted journey, Drowning Pool have held steadfast and when the dire times seem to be breathing down their necks, they bucked up and are now on a 10K seat a night shed tour. Oh yeah, for those living under a rock, “Bodies” and “Tear Away,” this band did those.
Theory of a Deadman are a Nickelback-style band — ironically they were initially scouted by NB’s Chad Kroeger and Charm City Devils are a dead-on for Bon Scott era AC/DC, but also, aren’t.
Along with the main stage at this year’s Cruefest, Motley saw fit to add another slate of bands. So it’s only fair that we recognize this year’s Monster Energy Stage line-up — numerous strippers will be stoked.

Dallas Strip Clubs: Timberlake a hit in first solo Vancouver show

And while Timbalandâs appearance on stage was novel to begin with, his 20-minute club-DJ medley â which weirdly included samples of songs from The Fray, Kelly Clarkson, Michael Jackson, Missy Elliott, and Coldplay â went on too long. Part of the problem was that he remained darkly lit behind one of the screens â reminding me of the mysterious Wizard of Oz â for his entire set while an unidentified DJ stood out in the spotlight.
For a few minutes, after Timbaland had promoted his CD and upcoming video game and left the stage, the audience sat in their seats waiting for something to happen, undoubtedly wondering if JT had left the building.
But he returned to perform for another full hour, giving the audience their moneyâs worth with Rock Your Body, Summer Love, Cry Me a River (a song reportedly written about ex-girlfriend and current mess, Britney Spears), and finally, SexyBack. The dancers dressed as strippers for Damn Girl, while an orchestra and gospel choir appeared projected on the screens for Losing My Way.

Dallas Strip Clubs: Station Break with Paul Farhi

Paul Farhi: Greetings all, and welcome to our mid-summer chat and weenie roast…So, comes word now that Radio Shack will be rebranding itself as “The Shack” in the next few weeks (thanks to pal Mark for highlighting this). I guess dropping “radio” from its name makes some sense; “radio” doesn’t exactly say “cutting-edge technology” these days. On the other hand, neither does “shack” (it sounds like the name of a strip club, as my friend Jane, wife of the aforementioned Mark, points out). Being kind of not cutting edge myself, I have to wonder why companies bother to rebrand, and why they always seem to do it so badly. Kentucky Fried Chicken removed the heart attack from its name by rebranding itself as KFC some years ago. Ditto Philip Morris, which became the unidentifiable Altria Corp.

Dallas Adult Entertainment: DNA Helps Reunite Children With Their Families

Arthur Eisenberg, Ph.D., professor and chairman of the department of forensic and investigative Genetics and co-director of the UNT Center for Human Identification at the University of North Texas (UNT) Health Science Center, is on a mission to stop this horrific industry through a $500,000 grant from The Life Technologies Foundation to develop the DNA-PROKIDS Project (Program for Kids Identification with DNA Systems ). PROKIDS is an international humanitarian effort using DNA testing to deter human trafficking of children and help reunite abducted and homeless children with their parents.
Through the DNA-PROKIDS program, DNA samples will be obtained from children associated with human trafficking whether through prostitution, forced labor, militant activities, or illegal adoptions, or homeless children found living on the street. Their DNA profiles will be stored in an international database were they can be searched against the DNA profiles provided by families who have had their children kidnapped or lost.
