J.C.: Definitely Eric Swenson. He was in the Whitney Biennial a few years ago, and his work has been in shows in Australia, Switzerland. Paul Slocum, who recently closed And/Or Gallery and is unfortunately moving to New York. I am really into digital and new media work, and what he’s doing is really interesting because there aren’t a lot of people doing it. I think what he’s doing will be seriously missed when he goes. He’s one of the artists featured in a group exhibition I am curating at the MAC. The show is titled, “Blueprint,” and it opens next week.
C.E.: I think Misty Keasler does some amazing photos on spaces in other countries, and she’s always willing to drop in and mentor my students. I think Brian Gibb with Art Prostitute and Public Trust is the hardest working dealer in Dallas.

Scott Goldstein blogged yesterday about the school crossing guard accused of having sex behind a vacant South Dallas house. I came across a couple more details this morning that I thought I would share.
Police say 47-year-old Johnny Williams was dressed in his school crossing guard uniform when officers came upon him standing outside the rear passenger door of a green Oldsmobile parked behind the home on Jamaica Street.
The woman police say was sitting in the car facing his crotch area, 38-year-old Cary Brown, is a long-time prostitute with several prostitution convictions, the most recent of which was from an incident this summer not far away along Jamaica Street.
“I’m sorry,” Williams said when he saw officers, according to a police report.

FORT WORTH, Texas, Aug. 25 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Dallas prostitutes are getting a chance to change their lives, thanks to a collaboration among the Dallas Police Department, Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, Dallas County Commissioner’s Office, courts, Dallas County Health Department, Adult Probation Department, Parkland Hospital and Homeward Bound, which serves as the lead for more than 40 social service and faith-based organizations. The program offers prostitutes a comprehensive, multi-step, in-patient and out-patient treatment program as an alternative to further victimization and continued involvement in the criminal justice system. The University of North Texas Health Science Center evaluates data from the program in analyzing health trends and indicators in the prostitution community, which could lead to intervention and treatment.
Initiated in 2007, the Prostitute Diversion Initiative (PDI) targets prostitutes in a monthly sting operation at Dallas-area truck stops. But the goal isn’t to jail the offenders. Between 1989 and 2005, Tacker rose to the level of detective sergeant at the Odessa Police Department after graduating from Odessa High School.
In 2005 he became Chief of Police at UT Permian Basin and in 2007 became Assistant Director of UT System Police in Austin.
Tacker earned his bachelor’s in criminal justice from UT Permian Basin in Odessa, Texas in 2008. He is currently enrolled at Mountain State University, where he’s studying strategic leadership and is slated to complete his master’s in March 2010.

Rihanna was seen stripping, in her underwear, in front of Jeremih while the two were drinking alcohol. Photos of Jeremih shouting at a stripper and breaking vodka bottles are all over the net. As the two went out of the cabaret after security intervention, they stopped near a photographer and told him that they were going to get married “tonight” in a casino.

The history of Broadway Baptist is closely linked with that of Fort Worth. In 1873, the city’s First Baptist Church had a modest 27-member congregation and met in a building about a half-mile from the infamous Hell’s Half Acre, where gambling and prostitution were rampant. A few church members wanted First Baptist to more aggressively pursue the salvation of the area’s sinners. When they couldn’t convince the others, those members joined with a group that split off from First Baptist in 1882 to found the church that would eventually be renamed Broadway Baptist. Some see it as ironic that the church that was started to fight sin more aggressively now finds itself in trouble for not doing enough to fight sexual “sin” of a very different sort. Others, however, see it as just the first step on Broadway’s path of independent decisions.
